St. Louis, MO - First time visit. Road Trip suggestions from OK to MO?

My mom and I are taking a road trip from NE Oklahoma to St. Louis, MO, to meet up with my sister and her daughter for a girl's weekend.

I've never been past Joplin, so I have absolutely no idea what there is along the way to stop and see. I haven't even looked on the map yet. I'm "assuming" we'll be taking whichever tollroad it is that goes through Miami, OK into MO.

Suggestions for fun things to stop and see? My mom is 83, but loves to have fun and is spontaneous. No physical limitations and we want to have a fun Girl's Road Trip this year (as we do every year).

Thanks!

St. Charles, MO is nearby and is a really cool older town. Lots of neat stuff to do and see and EXCELLENT places to eat. The Trailhead Brewery is great. In St. Louis check out the City Museum, the Zoo, and Forest Park (the largerst city park in the U.S. and 4 times the size of Central Park). Also Delmar Street is worth checking out.

From Joplin, you'll want to take I-44 and it will take you right by Lebanon, Mo. and
Sheperd Hills Cutlery (Case XX).

Also...x2 for a visit to old town St. Charles.+++

Okay - St. Charles sounds like winner x2!

I love Sheperd Hills Cutlery and Case XX. I have ordered from them many times. Woo Hoo! That will be a definite stop for me. I can probably have them ship a knife home for me.

Thanks so much! My mom will enjoy looking at knives also, as I bought her a Ladybug years ago and she wears it on her jeans belt loop. It's not a Case, but she loves having her own knife.

I don't think we'll have enough time to check out ALL of those places, but I'll see what we can fit in. I'm not sure how many days we will be there yet, and I don't know what my sister and her daughter have in mind. I believe her daughter just recently moved there, so she won't be familiar with St. Louis very much.

Thanks!
