Hello, Can somebody tell me. Does folders such as, RRF, M16, BM630, Manix....etc. design and able to stab through a wood board that is about 1 1/2- 2 inch thick? Or that are only design to cut. If not for stabbing, is there any folders out there that is able to do the job? or it is more of a job for fixed blade knife?

The models you listed may be able to do it, but would you really trust your fingers to a lock while stabbing through wood? If you absolutely must, then your best bet might be one of the benchmade axis lock models...still, better to try it with a fixed blade.

well, I can definately tell you it's more of a fixed blade job however, a high quality folder with a great lock and good strong tip will be able to do the job. But again if you are in an area where you can use a fixed blade do your self a favor and use a fixed blade.

A two inch thick board ??? If you don't know what you're doing, even using a fixed blade could get you hurt. Folders are primarily for cutting, not stabbing, although of course some are stronger than others.

It's not just the lock. The grip is critical, especially on a hard stab into thick or tough material. If your grip slips, your hand will slide up onto the cutting edge.

Have durable blade, have a piece of wood. i just start to curious too... :D
That is why, always ask before you start doing anything stupid. :p

Its all from experience from early age. 2 long deep cut on my fore arm are not for nothing. But i guess i have not learn enough since i start to curious again........ :D

This seems like a bad idea to me. I wouldn't even do this with a fixed blade. If you must try, wear heavy gloves and geep your grip super tight. Slip up the blade and you could cause permanent damage.

Could we get pics? Sounds like you are going to get stupid anyway, so we might as well have pics of why curosity cut the cat. LOL

I'd either seriously re think this, or, go ahead and find out for future refrence why you should have re thought this.

Most tactical folders are designed to be used for hard stabbing/thrusting, the problem would not be the lock but actually achieving that level of penetration. I can get about one into a piece of clear spruce, which is a soft/medium density wood. Even on clear pine I doubt I could get two inches, but I would have no concerns doing it with many folding knives. I do it on a fairly regular basis to gauge tip penetration abilities.
