I've got some really gorgeous Honduran Rosewood Burl scales on hand. I was curious if they needed to be stabilized, like softer burls... or if they are ok to use unstabilized like with DI burl, and most rosewood burls.

They're between 2/5 and 3/7 of an inch thick, so I think they would be able to survive a trip to K&G without too much warpage, but I don't know. I'm also unsure if they would really even absorb much resin. I'm also slightly concerned about them darkening a bit too much with stabilizing.

No need to stabilize them. I use HRB quite a bit and it is pretty oily and it finishes nice. It is my favorite wood right now. I have my doubts that the stabilization process would work like it does with other woods. I found it's more important to let it "acclimate" to the dry air here in CO. I've had some warp significantly once I got them so I let them acclimate slowly over weeks. Those are nice!

Thanks! I was hoping that was the case. I live in a pretty humid area, so I plan on just letting them sit for a year or so most likely.
