Where's a good place to get stabilized antler?

I don't need stag.....I need one for that "smooth" look.

Any suggestions on good quality suppliers?

Thanks,

Dan

Dan tell me what size your looking for and I'll send you some red deer antler..
I owe you anyway :D

Yeah...I didn't want to bug Mike yet....but I'll keep it in my back pocket.

Customer is very very interested in antler. I only want to work it if it's stabilized.

DanG - that's a wonderful offer. Is it stabilized? If so, I'm interested and would gladly pay for it - I can't imagine how you possibly owe me anything....I owe you a heckuva lot.

Daniel,

B72 and vacuum is just great on antler. If you just have a piece I can do it for you. It imprenates and hardens so well even the center is useable.

What is B72?

Doc

I've got B72 and a crappy vac.....no problem there.

Was hoping to be able to browse someone else's "already done" stuff.

From a stabilized deer? :D Sorry, I had to say it. I gave everyone plenty of time to do it.
Not stabilized, but there are all kinds of little "knothead" racks on ebay cheap. You ain't getting no trophy bucks cheap though. All my bucks I shot, I ain't cutting them up. They are all knotheads anyway.
Elk would probably work if you stabilized yourself. The elk we have is all smooth like you want. Don't know where you could find any already stabilized, sorry.

Doc,

Acyloid b-72 is a stabilizing chemical stuff. It's used for museum stuff. It never yellows and can be re-dissolved in solvent (like many laquers). I thought I could use it to stabilize wood, but no go. Well I couldn't get it to work. But with porous stuff like antler it's just great. The vacuum pulls it thru and fills in everything very nice.

You can google it. It's available from wood working places. You dissolve it in toulene.

Oh Yeah Daniel! Now I remember you do have some. I forgot our past conversations.
