Stabilized Ivory?

I have some Mammoth Ivory that I am finding is prone to developing cracks from out of the Blue

K&G can stabilize it for me. Has anybody tried this?
If so how did it look? I am afraid it may look plastic like instead of the nice creamy color it is now. I know it will be alot easier to use but I don't want to ruin a good blade with a plastic looking handle!
