Is there a concensous on the best finish to use on stabilized wood?
Something that doesn't affect the stabilizing compound, hopefully.
I'm using a few pieces of maple burI I got back in the early nineties and want something to seal it after sanding.

I like natural Danish oil for a lot of wood including stabilized maple

I too use Danish Oil on all woods including stabilized. I wet sand stabilized woods a coat or two and then leave to dry whereas other natural woods I might go 8-10 coats. Stabilized Buckeye Burl:

Heck, I'll often put Danish Oil on micarta, too.....

Perfect, exactly the information I was looking for.
Thank you

how does Danish Oil (mmmmm....danish), compare to Tru-oil?

Danish oil penetrates a little deeper and doesn't give as glossy as a finish. Tru oil takes more coats but gives a glossier finish. There may be other differences that others can remember.

I use nothing, but sand to 1500- 2000 grit.
If it's stabilized it shouldn't need any other oil or treatment.
