A few thoughts and questions. I just recieved some acryloid B-72 from convervators emporium. Seems like great stuff for stabilizing. Nice hard finish, and dries to the touch in minutes. Can be mixed to the desired consistancy you like. Now, If I wanted to stabilize some wood that may still be a little green or high moisture content. What do you think of this idea? Cut oversized scales, soak or pull a vacuum
in acetone or denatured alcohol. Air dry, or even in a slightly vented
ziplock a few days, then stabilize. Do you think the acetone would drive out the moisture? Paul

I thought of that and asked a chemist, he thought no
The alcohol would just evaporate leaving the Moisture
in place. I thought of this like the use of dry gas
in cars but that just soaks up the water to let it
move through the syt.
heat will accelerate it but also it will be prone to
cracking if done to fast,,, those links are interesting...

thanks guys for the advise. I think that the microwave
method shows the most promise. Thanks again
