I'm putting together a batch of wood to send to WSSI for stabilizing and I was wondering if I should send them some ivory I have also.
I don't recall reading about folks having ivory stabilized but it sure seems like it would benefit from it.
Do you folks have ivory stabilized or just saturate it with thin super glue once it's shaped?
Thanks up front and have a grand day!!!

Michael, Yes ivory benefits from stabilizing, especially the dry mammoth with cracks. It doesnt fill all the cracks but seems to strengthen the ivory and seals out moisture. Bone benefits too.

Why don't you call WSSI and ask them if ivory will benefit from the stabilization process? They have been very informative when I have called with questions.

Same here, I just got back from Fairbanks Ak, With close to 3lb of mammoth ivory. The artist I bought it from recommened thin superglue (Starbond thin formula).

I'm wondering if the stabilizing will change the colors at all.... I hope not.

Stabilizing works great for both Mammoth, and Elephant Ivory.
Probably the best thing you could do to it.
