Stabilizing Wood?

Should you enjoy reading about the technical side of professional stabilization, there are useful links here on David Peterson's website:

Stabilizing with monomers

The 14K article by Lumberlady is a good start.

Mike gave you the technical answer. The simple answer is - "Put it in a box and sent it to Mike Ludderman at WSSI."

I've never deal with WSSI, but i've seen their product on Steve Skiff's knives and let me tell you it is beautiful.
Though i have found equally as beautiful results with K&G finishing supplies. and they were about a dollar or two cheaper per pound. Depends who you prefer to ship to.
knifeandgun.com - check it out :D

Don't waste your time trying to save a few $s send it to K&G it will be far more usable. Ask me how I know this:D
Tried and wasted many dollars doing the same experiments, same money would have paid for a lot more usable handle material on hand!!!
By the time you paid the shipping, ruin your wood and try again you have paid for a bunch of professionally stabilized handle material.

I run a couple of hundred pounds a year through WSSI. I can attest to the quality of their process. The other advantage is they can do much larger boards and blocks. They have to be fairly small for K&G to do them.
