Well, I visited another local store yesterday - remember, I am a knife-slut. They carry more high end goodies than I usually see at my normal haunts. My local pusher seemed less than concerned when I asked where the 790's were Thursday - this guy had them stacked en masse on his display case! I relieved him of one. BTW, you know you are at an 'over the mountain' store in Birmingham when they ask how many of an expensive knife you want... they know you are not from 'there' when you have to finance the sales tax...

Nice knife - the actual evenly ground edge of the .125" S30V clip=point blade measured 3.75" - and would pop armhairs along it's length right out of the box. Deployment was stiff at first - after 30 degrees, it has a mission of it's own - 'Lurch's' into the open position with authority, the energy required being stored in torsion springs during the previous closure. My first 'Nitrous' AO knife - don't know about it yet - I like manual knives - but this is a nice package - Ti frame-lock is well engaged, too.

Do you like RH tip-down carry? You'll like this knife then... that's it's only clip mounting position! Of course, for me - one who's first action is to stow the clip in the box - I like 'pocket' knives - it removed easily. My recent ZT-301 purchase had clip mounting holes everywhere - I actually thought they were frame lightening holes! While my 755's clip was a bit much - this clip seems a bit cheesy - little matter here.

It's 3.8 oz claimed weight puts it .7 oz less than a 710, while it's OAL deployed is ~.4" shorter. Balances nicely - soft jimping on the handle's upswept pivot end help's detail work. The stiffness seemed to improve on my knife with some clock oil applied via a needle applicator. Let it seep/soak - and don't use too much. The first deployment will redistribute it, centripetal force in action, I guess. Anyone know how to get oil droplets off an LCD screen? Oh - the stiffness decreased drastically by a very slight CCW 'adjustment' of the pivot screw, with the blade tip retaining it's centered position when closed.

This thing - expensive as it was ($240 MSRP, as if folks paid that...) - is a keeper! Better than last year's 760 - bigger than a 635 mini-Skirmish. No Spydie-blade-holes - or Tanto blade - I hope a manual variant is next...

PS Pix later - go to BM's site or new catalog to see it!

Aside from the Tip down carry, that is a really, really nice looking knife.
