Stacked Leather or Wood?

If you had the choice between a stacked leather handle or wood (for a bowie), which would you choose and why?

one vote for leather.You don't have to worry about it cracking or splitting.Old leather looks neat.

Should it ever be treated with anything (i.e. saddle soap, mink oil, etc.)?

Wood. It's more durable, and likely more beautiful.
