Stacked leather re-handle....?

Has anyone put a new stacked handle on an old kabar? I see old ones for sale every so often without or with very rough handles so I pass on them. I'm more concerned with butt and how that will all fit together.

If you have I'd love to see pictures.

Haven't done it but someone posted about their project several months ago.

The process is relatively simple.
1 - Remove the pin holding the pommel on.
2 - Slide off the pommel and then the old stacked leather discs.
3 - Slide on new leather discs and then the pommel.
4 - Install new retaining pin.

Would one stack then on dry or wet? If dry do you glue them all together to?

David Stifle and ron_m80 have rehandled KaBars.

Doing a forum search on 'stacked leather' in the KaBar Knives subforum and the Knifemaker's Discussion subforum finds lots of threads.

As does searches in Youtube and Google.

I'd love to try it on my 1246 but looks a bit of a hassle that I'm not prepared to deal with...

It'd also be cool on my 1253 and 1254but I haven't seen it for shorties
