i just got a marbles knife with stacked leather and was wondering how to clean and maintain the leather. i know water can't be used at all so how do you all take care of your stacked leather?

thanx

i have a ww2 Catt 225Q combat knife that i use mink oil on, alot of guys swear by some stuff called sno-seal, dunno bout that though just seen it mentioned.
The mink oil works ok, little goes along way. In all honesty just keeping it clean and as dry as possible will go along way, chances are my catt didnt get fussed over and it's made it this long:)
what kinda knife ya got?

I second the boot/shoe polish.

Its got a good combination of leather preserver and waterproofing properties.

And its good and cheap. ;)

Sounds gross but I use my facial grease. Not sweat, just when you get a shiny nose or forehead I just run my finger tip across the shiny areas then rub it into the leather washers, works great for me.

Oils soften the leather. I treat my Marble's leather grips with SnowSeal... rub it on, melt it in with a hair dryer and wipe it off. You might also want to treat the tang with a rust preventative (I use BreakFree) by removing the butt cap and sliding the leather washers off.
