Stacked leather

I'm looking for instructions on how to make a stacked leather handle like the ones found on the famous SOG Recon bowies made for the US Special Forces in Vietnam. I don't have a stacked leather handle that I feel like taking apart.

I searched the forum for previous posts, but search page came up completely blank. probably a browser compatibility issue

Thanks! Like most things that are worth doing, there is no one right way to do it. All those old leather belts that don't fit are going to dissapear fast...
