just reground this one. it was finished a few months ago, but it was too thick at the edge for my tastes. I left it that way on purpose to take a beating, but I changed my mind once it was 99% done, so I greased up the elbows and got out the sanding sticks... I don't know what to classify it as, but just thought I'd throw it up here to show a version of a stacked handle configuration. it's made up of layers of an old brownish red micarta like material I acquired from a military junk heap... score I figured.

Oh... and apparently a pic of one of my knives being tested, lol. I was looking at that attachment and stuck it on there I guess. I am glad that was all I was looking at. So a bit of background on the attachment pic. that one is a knife I have carried for 4 years now and rehandled twice. this is the original handle that I had on it and this is part of the testing I had done on it to see tip strength. I had hammered this one through 4 pieces of aluminum deck plate by hand with the back of an axe. don't judge me.. sometimes its just fun to try things.

I like that. A lot. I absolutely love stacked leather handles and that has the look without the drawbacks. Very nice.

Took the words right out of my mouth. That's a great look. Do you have any other pictures?

Thanks gents. I'll post a few in a day or so... I love this look as well, like you said, it looks a lot like leather (completely by accident) as i was just using scrap i had laying around from other projects and thought i'd try it out. I have stacked other things a few times, but this was the first full handle, and i was surprised at the result. If you're interested in trying it, all it is was "natural" micarta-ish material. I had gotten my hands on a lot of it as a military surplus at one point and have 3'x3' sheets of it in thicknesses from 1" to over 2" so i got pretty lucky on that one.
