stacked washer handle refurbish?

I have a case 366 fixed blade knife that I got at the pawn shop I used to work at a year ago. It was laying in a pile of junk in the back of the shop. It was not in a sheath and the leather stacked washer handle was in pitiful shape. I like the feel and blade shape and it is shaving sharp but the handle needs to be repaired before I use it more. There is significant room between a few of the washers and the washers are also cracked badly. I can still grip and use it safely but I dont want to do anymoe damage. What should I do?
