Stag 301 stockman

They are not found in every pocket but lots of folks have one or two stag model 300s. Do you have a specific question about the 301?

I have found one and was curious what a fair price was? it's supposedly in new condition
 
DC, Search regular black scale 301 sales on the e site and add more. Stags are generally the highest cost of the scale types in this model. There are old stags and new stags, what does the tang stamp say ? Buck, 301, USA or Buck, 301 (followed by date symbol) USA. Long pull on main blade or only small nic pull ?

the knife appears to have the short nic pull and blade markings of BUCK 301^ USA
 
Ok, it was made in 1988. Will class it as young end of old timers. The new ones are the last couple of years.
Will be of higher value if you get orginal box and both stag scales match well. Also check to see if it is sharped too much. the value will be at the top of your survey of 301s of e site.....good luck

The one that you are looking at is, in my opinion, priced a bit on the high side, especially without the box and papers. In addition, the scales don't look like they are the best match. As 300 Bucks has indicated, they are not the most common Buck in the world, but they are not in the super rare category either.
 
I have several stag with different scales that I was sorry I bought.
You will be too if they are not close in color and texture. I have tried to "fix' them to be closer in color and it never works out really well. I did not see knife but I don't have too. Tin and I are 303 blood brothers and what he says I back up 110%.

Well, interesting that you ask about a stag 301. The same guy you asked about his Wild Bill Cody knives has a very nice older pined stag 301. I'm very tempted but its outside my current collecting themes.
