For those of you who have stag or anter handle skinning knives does the skinning, gutting and quartering affect the stag or antler in a negative way?

Not really. I've had some stag handles get darker with use (which I like), but not much else. It's a pretty durable material in my experience.

Won't hurt it one bit. I've used stag handled knives to process more fish than I can count and they don't appear to have been effected at all beyond natural aging, despite being soaked with blood and cleaned multiple times over. Process your game without fear.

Happy Hunting.

I've used stag on my knives for years. Seems the grip gets better when covered in blood when dressing game.

I haven't submerged any stag in big game blood, but lots of rabbits, squirrels, etc., and I have never seen any affect on it. It's pretty hard and tough stuff.
