This is my first picture to post, I hope it works. This Bowie is made of 5160 &15n20, Sambar Stag, with 416 stainless. The blade is 6 3/8" long and the
OAL is 11 3/8". Please tell me what you think, if the post works

Very nice Mike. That looks like a well finished, stout little blade. I like it.

before I read Joss's post! LOL!!! But it's in the blade style I gravitate towards... And I love the damascus and the guard... And while I'm not that enamored with stag, that's a beautiful mounting you've done, especially with the butt cap and ferule/spacers...

Now... something a little more 'graceful' in about a 5 1/2" blade... fossil mammoth ivory...

You won't be making it to the OKCA show in Oregon this year by chance?????
:D
No? Well, I thought it might be worth a try... Man, there are some great makers back east!

Someone else, I think that it was Wulf had asked about him before Blade, and it put his work on my radar. I committed to one knife, but wound up with another, which happened to be his submission into the Blade magazine "Best New Maker" category, and am happy to have it.

That said, I think that Mike has a "slight" propensity for a wider-than- necessary guard, which leads to the visual impression of stoutness in this particular knife.

That might not be it, but that is what I am seeing.

The overall workmanship and design look to be top notch, as expected.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I'd have to see this knife from some different angles to know for sure if the is propotional, but overall I like what I see.

It's bowie heaven on the forums right now. :D This is a real nice one Mike. That looks to be a countour-filed butt cap which sure is a classy way to finish off a nice piece of stag like this. Thanks for the look and please show us more!

Mike absolutely Stunning Bowie, everything about her says "Classy"

This said I believe I can help Keith out on the guard proportions,You centerded the guard to the riccaso which makes the guard look high on the back,Nothing wrong with this way of setting a guard. But I was told by a collecter once that to make the guard look more proportional that I should center it to the blade and not the riccasso.Kind of looks funny at first but the idea does work.I wasnt going to say anything but your knives look to good not to pass that little advice I was given on to you.

Again That is one Classy looking little Bowie and I really like the steel choice in the blade.
