Here's some bad pics of a stag and brass bolster combo I've been working on. I got some nice stag at the Chesapeake show and put together this hunter. 4" D2 blade, 4" handle and 8 1/2" overall. My mascot assisted in holding the knife. :D Thanks for looking.

That's a purty blade you made...is D2 difficult to anneal/grind/heat treat? I'm working with 154CM, with some ATS34 and S30V waiting on deck. I'm getting more exercise than I bargained for! :p
 
Thank you. Yes D2 is tough to grind compared to 5160. I don't think it's any harder to grind then the 154 you're using. I made 5 knives out of 154 and thought it was a little harder to grind then D2. I've never tried S30V, but from what I hear it's worse then the others. I send my blades out for heat treat. Haven't ventured into that aspect of knifemaking yet. :eek: Good luck with your grinding. I'd like to see what you come up with. ;)
