Stag cleaning?

A friend gave me his Puma Hunter's Friend knife to clean up. His wife bought it for him in 1973 for their camping trips & it probably hasn't been out of the sheath for 20 years. Not much to clean up but a little surface rust, no pits. The stag handle looks "old & dirty" (probably not the right description) & I was wondering if the stag handle should be cleaned, how to clean it, treated, or left just the way it is?
Thanks.

can you post some pictures so we can see what the stag looks like? you might want to try some soap and water on a damp sponge. make sure to wipe the blade down with oil after and maybe put a light coating of mineral oil on the stag. wipe off any excess after a few minutes.

Thanks Richard, I'll try for some pictures later, with TRY the key word :).

I only use lemon oil and ren-wax on stag.
