I am currently looking to obtain a new hunter for an Elk trip to N.Mex. this fall. I want stag handles, 7-8" overall with bolsters and a good full coverage sheath. I am looking at curent production Hen & Rooster, Muela, Puma IP, Boker and Bear and Sons (they are from my part of the country). My price range is $100. I am leaning toward the Muela or H&R and B&S. Any comments on these or any other suggestions.
 
I don't know about the exact models you are looking at but being Spanish I can say that the Muela brand (from Spain btw :D) makes some of the best low budget stainless knives arround here. I own one and while the edge retention could be better, it is tough as nails and the leather sheath is top notch. Easy to sharpen as well. Mine has also stag handle.
