I am looking for a stag handled fixed blade that I can use. Something pretty, but functional with a 5-7" blade. What production knives can you guys recomend?

You don't say how much you are willing to spend, but I will go ahead and recommend Bob Dozier. He will make you a great knife using D2 steel, and I am sure stag handles would be an option.

A factory option might be a Marbles knife, I am sure I have seen stag handled versions, but can't recall the blade size.

One thing to consider is that no matter what you get insisting on stag will raise the price, as it is getting scarcer. I have found this out looking for some nice stag myself, it don't come cheap.

Stag is getting scarce, Marbles no longer offers it. Other stag handled knives that I've seen but have no first hand experience with include Randall and Dozier, both are well respected names. I think I've even seen a Coldsteel with a stag handle, but it was larger than 7". Any big name custom maker should be able to make one for you, but those are all I can recall of the production knives.

If you can find a stag handled Marbles 7" Trailmaker or Expert II, both would be excellent choices.

I have stag handled fixed blades from Puma, Boker and Muela, all good but I like the Puma best, The Muela was the least expensive even though it´s a nice crown stag.

Sambar stag is the densest, sturdiest, and widely viewed as the most beautiful stag for knife handles and other items. Due to rapidly dwindling numbers, its export from India (by far the largest supplier) is now verboten. Hence, most things with Sambar stag have leaped in price in the past 3-5 years.

I believe Sambar stag can still be hunted in New Zealand and Australia, and some of this material may be making its way into materials markets. But my understanding is that this stag is not on par with the quality that came out of India.

Several custom makers have stockpiled quite a supply. Most big manufacturers (like Boker, as indicated in the link above) have moved to using red deer stag, burnt bone made to appear like stag, and the like. For aesthetic purposes in "user knives," these alternatives are probably fine, if not quite as tough as Sambar. But for collectors, Sambar's value will only go higher and higher...

A quick note on Bob Dozier and stag. If you choose this as your handle option, it's $150 extra. Just thought I'd let you know.

I also have a crown stag Bowie from Muela. Very nice, and a very nice sheath as well. I'm sure some of the sites that support these forums might carry Muela. You can also find it at cheaper than dirt.com for about $60.00.
Not affiliated in any way, just trying to help.
