I picked this up the other day, I was shocked at the low price that the seller had on it, and with that bought it pretty quick-as these sell like hot cakes when they ever do appear ( New Zealand doesnt have a real depth of knives here ) so things like this tend to shine out, so...the price was cheap enough not to worry if it had issues....boy am I so glad to report to you it has none:D

The actions, or walk and talk are one of the smoothest knives I have ever opened, I had the pleasure of checking out festerfromenzed's Kershaw Wild Turkey...and that to date is the easiest, smoothest knife I have had the pleasure of opening..well this swinguard is only one very small step behind the Wild Turkey.
Its as though everything is on smooth ball bearings...please forgive me as I know this sounds silly, but its the only way I know how to describe the actions.
I havent owend any of the beautifull customs that we are so often shown here in Traditionals...and Im sure that these knives give you the same experience, but I can only go by with what I have experienced so far...

Closed this knife measures 5 inches, the Stag is Beautifull to say the least.
Hope you enjoy looking at it :)

Nice.

I had one of these as a kid - and foolishly lost it or it was thrown out during a move.

Really beautiful color and texture to that stage. Well done Dunc.

Nice find Duncan. I've never been a big fan of swing guard knives, but the blade shape on that one is exponentially more appealing to me than the clip on the others. The stag scales don't hurt either.;) I'm glad to hear you can find a nice knife locally even if it's only once in a while. It would drive me nuts to have to wait as long as you do to get them shipped overseas.

Bravo, Duncan! That is one pretty knife. I've never touched a custom...I know exactly what you mean. I am lucky enough to own a very few knives with ball bearings. ;)

When you said Italian, you meant it. That looks like a knife that the Montgue's and Capulet's would have used in Shakespeare's Verona. Like dannyp, I have not been a fan of swing guards but that is a beautiful knife. Enjoy.

mmmmmm.....that sure is pretty, Duncan !
Stunning, in fact. You take some mighty fine pictures there mister!

Does the scale meet the bolster square on both sides? I can't tell.

Thanks to you folks
Yes..living in New Zealand means we usually pay premium price...have a hell of a long wait, and....we miss out on those blade shows :( also means missing out experimenting-getting to pick up a lot of the new knives etc.

To actually go to the show, also to meet a few of the forum people there...yeah...that would be a good day.

Im always working on the photo's...there are a few that are not in focus a bit...I will keep working on that.

Hey there Dan, yes they do meet square ie; no gaps...BUT on the top and bottom corners of the ends of the Stag scale, they havent tapered the corners in..they left them as they are - square .. where as most shave them to be flush with the bolster.

That's what I meant, not tapered. I like it.

Beautiful knife!

The Medici is one of my favorite knife patterns. Do you know who the manufacturer was? I have an auto version of the Italian Medici, but no manual version. I believe it was made by AKC Italy.

The German Puma brand Medici's I've seen all have dagger grinds instead of flat grinds. I prefer the blade on yours- much more usable, in my opinion.

Congratulations on a great score!

Beautiful knife, I guess I am one of the few who really likes the Swing guard patterns. Nice start on a very nice pattern.

Never been a fan of swing guards...
In my feeble mind, they weren't needed, and were a little unsightly. Especially the Case knives. Their guard always looked to me like it was an after thought, and they just used some extra parts they had for something..

The guard on your new knife, really ADDS to the looks of the knife though imho.
It is shaped nicely and has character. The stag is nice too

Very cool looking. Great pics too

That seems to be a very nice knife.
It resembles my Puma Medici quite a bit, but your knife indeed has a much more useful blade shape.
The Medici is only good for stabbing, but it was of course designed that way; to kill small game like rabbits and hares.

On a side note; it must be some sort of age thing, as the older i get the more i seem to like vintage stag handled knives, :D
