Just wondering if anyone here knows anything about a couple Kabar's a friend of mine has. He got them in the 70's. Both have gorgeous stag handles, one has two blades the other a big, single blade in a "jack-knife" type pattern. Both are beefy and heavy. They have bulldog heads on them and are numbered X11/77 (I think) Any ideas on what these are and, more specifically if I know my neighbor, what they're worth? They are both pristine. I collect custom knives mainly and don't know much about these other than they're VERY handsome and VERY mint. ANY info would really be appreciated! (The only Kabar I'm used to is the good, old USMC version!) Thanks everyone---Jim SEMPER FI

If they are what I think they are....they are 1977 reproductions of KA-BAR "Doghead" folding huning knives originally produced circa 1920 to 1940.

They are identical handles?? One has a large saber ground clip blade, the other has the same main blade and a flat ground drop-point skinner blade?

I'm not up on the values of these, but a guess in mint condition would be $125 to $150 per knife.

Knifeaholic is quite right. My BRL4 lists these as the third edition in the Ka-Bar collectors club knives. A pair of stag handled folding hunters. Issue price of $200. 1,100 sets were made.

By the way, James... the first knife in that collector series was the 1976 USMC 200th Anniversay combat/utility.

Thank to both of you fellas! I passed your replies on to my neighbor but--now that I know the one was a USMC 200th Anniv. blade (1775 Tunn Tavern) AND knowing my neighbor is prior NAVY--I think those knives belong in the hands of a Marine!! Maybe one that's serving currently since I am lucky enough to have fought my battles a WHILE ago! Thanks again for both your help! Best Regards--Jim SEMPER FI
