Well, I got my belts and steel today!!!! McMaster-Carr rules!!!! Couple of questions, again. Stag handles, can I shape them to a handle, like with finger cutouts and that type of thing or should I leave them fairly rectangular? I want to make a knife like Neils Small hunter with stag scales and a 303 stainless bolster and was wondering if the finger grooves would be a problem. Nest question is I have a .bmp drawing of some of my knife designs I would like to post to get feedback on designs, etc. How do i do this? where can i post pics on the web for free? thanks once again!

The limitation on stag is the amount of enamel you have on the outside (the solid white part).

As long as you are shaping into the enamel, you can polish or rub it out and it will look great. It's when you get into the core (softer, spongey texture) that you will have problems.

The core will still polish out, but it looks bad.

With imported stag you usually have a very small, dense core with a lot of enamel to work with. With North American antler (except for eye-guards) you typically have little room to grind into it.

Good luck
Nick
