Stag Kershaw

The people on the Kershaw Forum will know.

That knife is a Model #4932 " Rhinelander" and was in the 1986 catalog, it came with a leather sheath but the sheath marked 1050L to the best of my knowledge isn't the original sheath for that knife. The 1050L sheath is still in the current catalog. Looks like it was discontinued by 1988, in 1987 it had a suggested retail of $160.

Yep, I searched the web to see if they'd started making Kershaw in Germany again, but found none. Compare the sheaths in these 2 (above one and original post). Both are for 1050L, but differ in shape. Plus, the Kershaw stamp is higher in the original post. I have limited experience with Kershaw folders; anybody know if the sheath matches the 1980s productions from Germany? This knife just looks new. By the time we wake up tomorrow the market may be flooded with stag 1050L patterns!! But it's a nice knife, well made and tight. Let me know if you have more info. And thanks.

Sorry, K-guy. Your post came up while I was typing. That clarifies the problem with the sheath (which certainly is new), but the knife looks new too (even inside it is dust free and lacks any aging).

The knife probably is the real deal, I have many old kershaws and you would not be able to tell they were 30 years old.

This is one time I'm happy to be wrong. But, Lord, has it really been 20 years since 1986-7? Yikes!
