Heres a real nice example of one of my favorite kinds of knives the forged personal-carry mini-bowie type of knife. This one sports a 4 ½ blade of 1084 with an overall length of 9 1/8. Bronze double guard and mortised stag handle round out the package.
Every time I pick this one up, the name little big knife springs to mind. Notwithstanding its compact dimensions this knife speaks first of solidity and strength. This is due in no small part to the thickness of the blade (3/8 at the guard) and its substantial width relative to its length (1 ½ at its widest point). This is one little knife that feels like it wants to go chop up some 2 by 4s.
Flat ground with a razor-sharp convex edge which just about goes without saying: its made by Fitch after all.
Cheers,
Roger Pinnock
