As I continue to grow my small collection of Buck 112's, I'm considering adding one in a more traditional-looking stag version. While I understand that "bone stag" is usually cow bone which is cut and burned to look like stag, I'm unsure about the differences in the genuine/natural stags I read about. I currently have a Buffalo horn 112 on order with Buck's Custom Shop and was thinking about adding another one with the Elk scales. Trouble is, Elk doesn't seem to have the deeper texture and look of stag. In looking around though, I found what appears to be a nice "genuine stag" 112 at C & C, a vendor featuring many different 112 and 110 iterations (not sure if I'm allowed to give the full dealer name here). The price of the C & C genuine stag knife is considerably lower than ordering one in Elk directly from Buck, but even more important to me is the difference in appearance and feel of the finished knife. Would someone here be able to help me with information and maybe comparison photos? Many thanks.
