Stag Senator--My first attempt at pics

I have a sambar stag Northwoods Senator, made by Queen, that I've been using for nearly two months now. I like it as well as I do my Case redbone Peanut. At 3-1/4", it's 3/8" longer than my Peanut, but because the ends taper (in both width and thickness) it pockets just as well as the Peanut, maybe a tad better. The scales swell in the middle, so I have no problem with purchase in the hand. Both blades are thin, and are on the same spring, so the knife overall is not bulky.

I like having the straight coping blade. It is handy for sharpening pencils and opening that infernal clamshell packaging.

For the photo I polished the bolsters, blades & shield, and put mineral oil on the scales.

If you've got any photography tips, I'd love to learn how to improve my photos. I'm new at this.

Hey there Robb,

That is a super nice knife. I love the chunky stag scales on yours. Your pictures are fine, just a tad small but that's easy to fix by just tweaking the edit size.. I have the same pattern in mammoth ivory by Northwoods. I purchased it 4-5 years ago.. As I recall it was their first offering in that pattern.. Its my Sunday-go-to-meet-in knife. These senator pattern cut like the dickens in a not too small and not to large discrete package.

Great looking knives guys, could you post link where I can see these smaller knives. All I have seen are the big trapper models they make. Thanks.

Nice knife for sure,

As to photo tips, check this thread that SharpbyCoop started in the Gallery section

No Frills home studio

wade through there and I'm sure you'll get some excellent tips!

i have this knife in mammoth ivory. mine arrived with a chip missing from the end of one of the scales. i was a very novice knife collector at the time and did not know that it would be quite acceptable to ask for a replacement. but it is still a fine knife.
perhaps mammoth ivory is prone to chipping ? roland

Apparently I'm limited to 100KB per photo. I don't know how to change that. Do I need to upgrade my membership, or is there an edit feature somewhere? I looked around the "Attachments" area and couldn't find anything.

Your pics look great! Those mammoth scales look superb!

I believe the only seller in the US is here . Go to the non-Case modern folder area, should be at the bottom of the first page. The Northwoods Senator is a real score. Feels smaller in the pocket than a Peanut, thinner too, except the swelled scales give it great grip.

I think these knives were a special factory order, maybe by someone in Britain? That's just a vague recollection, however. The mammoth is gone, but the sambar is excellent.

I have no relation to this vendor, other than as a satisfied customer a couple of times.

Man, that is an AWESOME pattern. A wee bit out of my price range what with two little ones and a third on the way ..... but some day, baby, some day!

Robbw,
