I'd like to get a nice stag Stockman. Does anyone have any experience with the different Stockman makers?

I've seen Case, Northwoods, Queen & a few others.

I'd like to get the nicest I can find without going custom.

Any feedback appreciated.

Great Eastern Cutlery or Northwoods are going to be your top choices there.

I agree with first response. Stag varies alot, some dealers post multiple pictures so you know what your getting

German Eye Brand also. You have to be careful picking stag if you plan on carrying it. Some examples can get rather thick.

How big are you looking for?

Recent GEC offerings that are still available in stag here and there are the Abilene Stock Knife (4" closed, squared bolsters), Dixie Stockman (4 1/8" closed, rounded bolsters), Buckaroo (3 1/2") , and Calf Roper (3 1/2").

Thanks guys!! I really like the smaller stockmans. I've seen the Northwood on KSF but I think it measures 4+"
It is beautiful though

Thanks for the replies guys. I love the smaller folders with multiple blades.
I really appreciate all the options

KSF has the Northwoods Small Stockman made by Queen with square bolsters in stock with stag covers and D2 steel which measures 3.25" closed. They also have the XL Stockman also made by Queen in their #49 Cattle King pattern with D2 steel that is 4.25" closed, but stag covers are not in stock. There was another Northwoods stockman, also a Gladstone, Mich run made by Queen in their #9 pattern (my favorite of the 3) and D2 steel which is 4" closed and is sold out. They show up infrequently in the secondary market and are typically snapped up rather quickly. I'm hoping Derrick will do another run of 4" stockman.

Here is mine and as you can see it has polished stag covers with no unsightly bulges.

I have always found Case patterns more pleasing to the eye than GEC patterns. Stag is hard to order sight unseen; I have about a dozen stag stockmen and only one that I don't like.

I've been carrying this 4 inch stockman for a few days now and it doesn't feel like a large stock. It carry's very well. That's from someone who always looks for a 3 5/8size.
