Does anyone have any tips for putting a stain or patina on 154cm?

Having difficulty finding information on this.

Is there a way to acid etch it without ruining it?

I have an Emerson CQC-7A. I put a 600grit finish on it by hand. I love how dull/ non-reflective it looks, I was just wanting to do something different with it.

154cm is a stainless not carbon and it is very hard to force a patina on it. Come to think of it, I've never seen a stainless with a patina.

ferric perchlorure (if that's the right word, what is used to etch printed circuits) will corrode any steel even stainless, the effect may be weird and it won't be dark like with carbon steel just dull grey.

You can use ferric chloride- what pwet is talking about - etch it for a few minutes then use gun blue to darken it further , it works on stainless I've done it many times.

You have to use caution to not get a pattern unless that's what you are looking for. Lets the 'etch' dry then nuetralize with windex or baking soda , wash off with soap and water , dry thoroughly then use very fine steel wool to get the shmeg off , oil her up a bit and let it cure overnight.

The finish will not be premanent ( it can scratch) but them what finish is....

I've been looking up gun blueing kits, Whats a good brand?

How do you put yours on? Do you just hold it in one hand and rub it on?
