Ivory/white paper micarta is my favorite handle scale material. But I've always observed that when I carry knives with paper micarta scales in jeans pockets, they tend to pick up some dye and stain blue. I usually can remove it with the green side of a sponge and some soap and water. Anyone else have this problem? Any advice?

Keep a coat of wax on the handle to minimize this.

Thank you for the advice. What kind of wax do you recommend? I have used renaissance wax on wood and bone in the past, but I don't think I've ever applied any kind of wax or oil to micarta.

The Renaissance wax will work, but Johnson's paste wax or neutral paste shoe polish will hold up longer.
