I've been looking into getting an axe or hatchet for my dad, but all I can seem to find are carbon steels. I would like to get him a stainless one so he doesn't have to worry about it rusting on him in the shed too much. Does anybody make a good quality stainless steel axe or hatchet?

^ I'd really rather get him a stainless axe that's of higher quality, neither of us like carbon steels.

I've seen a Condor hatchet in 440 C advertised and another brand in 420. 440 C is usually considered a better steel. You might be able to find a custom maker who will make you one. Also there is a maker who uses S7. I don't know if S7 will be more corrosion resistant than 5160.

Bo T: Condor makes a hatchet in 440C? Okay, I'm sold. I have one of their machetes in 420, I'll snag one of those axes for dad, he'll love it.

Just a note: It is cast 440 C and the patterns are a couple of double bit (hatchets) and a spike hatchet.

Lycosa: You just HAD to make that joke, didn't you? Admittedly, it was pretty funny.
