I cannot seem to find any stainless hardware in my are that will fit Becker handles. I have tried Lowe's, HomeDepot, and a couple other small hardware stores. And I still cannot seem to find any. Can anyone tell me where I might find them and what size they are? Thanks. And a few pics...

Thanks.

I got my parts & pieces at Ace hardware back in the specialty hardware bins.
they're either #8 x 32 or #10 x 32, I can't remember which.

Home Depot here has em. They're a pretty standard size, I don't remember if they're 8x or 10x either though. I'm leaning towards 8x though, so it's probably 10x, knowing me.

im pretty sure its 10, i also got some good possibilities at the leather working store..

I used 10x24x3/4... That's what they had at Lowe's... They are a little long so I was going to cut them but they don't stick out so I left them as is.

I switched my BK7 handle screws out to slotted types, 10-32 IIRC, so the screwdriver on my SAK Huntsman can turn them, and I can get to the matches inside if needed.

Trim to length, put them on a lit burner on the stove for a minute, them drop them into a glass of cold water. They'll turn a funky purple-black color, and not be so shiny.

I am getting more from ace soon. Do you want me to grab an extra set for you?

i got mine at home depot. with liners, 3/4 is perfect.

the depot didn't have 5/8 or i would have bought a handful of those.

the FAQ/DB has the specs. that's why it's there, people keep asking ;)

exercise: goto search and type in "becker stainless" or "becker screws"; enough hits to be useful :)

also: there have been reports of other screw sizes sometimes coming from KaBar lately, i'm not sure what that's about and have never managed to ask, but they're of a similar size.

worst case, when you buy screw/nut combos, always buy enough to replace everything, OR bring an existing screw/nut with you and buy exact replacements when testing at the store.

i have seriously considered just taking a spare screw/bolt and putting it onto a keychain through the hole of some key or whatnot and threading a few extra nuts as well... so i always have a spare, and have some way of measuring hardware if i forget the numbers (which i do :>)

one of these days, i'll find [annodized] Ti hardware and buy that ;) i'm sure some store sells them, but haven't seen them in person yet. heat treating those will make them turn funky colors.
