I want to make a full tang tactical tomahawk for my son to use in the Marines. I'd like to use stainless so he doesn't have to worry about corrosion. Question is, which stainless steel? Do you guys have any recommendations?

Could I suggest a simple and reliable carbon steel instead? Corrosion wont be a problem if it has a coating applied, like powdercoating, cerakote, bluing etc. There are a ton of good coatings in different colors (or even camo), and theyre nonreflective unlike stainless steel. Then you wouldnt need to worry about durability, and you may save some money as well since carbon steel is cheaper. Besides, the military isnt too stingy with CLP oil and it works well to keep rust off of things.
