Hi folks

I've got a mini gentleman i've been carrying in my pants pocket for a couple of months. Already it has a number of scuffs and scatches on the stainless handle. What is the best way to get rid of and prevent these?

Thanks in advance

Hi Cat,
This knife is like a lot of Spyderco's and might even be made in the same factory in Seki Japan. The handles are not tempered very hard so the metal will scratch but not very deep. This is normal but can be bothersum. I'm not sure how to stop this but someone else might. If it is a using knife I wouldn't worrie about it, it gives it it's own personality!:)

The only way to prevent scratches is for the knife handles to be harder than what it comes in contact with. My wife carries one in her purse (talk about High Risk Environment!!). What I will probably do is polish it, and send it out for BC coating(probably rainbow:rolleyes: ). That should protect it.

I don't care if my SS handled knives accumulate scratches.

If I was going to do something about it I would take some fine sandpaper and sand the polished, shiny SS to a mat finish, the better to obscure any scratches.

Personally, polishing and bodycoating sounds like too much trouble and expense, for me.

If you send a few, it cuts down the expense. I sent 2 to Bodycote, and it came to about $28. Pics of 1 are in the "Show us your SOGs thread". The polishing I have done on a buffing wheel, which takes little time. Besides, they look really cool!!!
