For models like the Ladybug, Dragonfly, Delica, Endura, etc. with stainless handles, what type of steel is used? I did a brief search, but only found one one post that said it might be 420J, but not for sure...

I can't find anything either. Why do you ask? So long as they have been heat treated, they should suit you fine and provide decent rust resistance as well.

Just curious. I seem to recall reading somewhere a long time ago a quote of Sal's along the lines of "we make handles from steel other companies use for blades" or something like that. We all seem to know the most minute specs of our knives; I figured someone might know.

I think its strange its not well known.

I can't believe anyone would question the reasoning behind your questioning something like that, :( we want to know all the other tiny little minute specs, we know the chemical composition of the blade steels, the type, including trademarked name of the plastic used for the handle and the type of steel used for back locks/hardware, seems only logical we [knife nuts] would question the handle steel.

If that's really something sal said I'd love to see the exact quote, just another reason spyderco's awesome, makes me want to grind a blade out of a spyderco handle.
