A buddy of mine said that an Izula in stainless steel was in the works. Is this for real or just a rumor?

I recall Jeff mentioning it was on the list of things to come. I believe they're going to be in 440c.

The only stainless I've heard of is the Izula folder. It's expected to come with a D2 blade. D2 is considered by many to be semi-stainless, as it has a high level of carbon and may form a slight patina over time.

it is not stainless. trust me, i have the acid hands. :D

I said I like D2 in a small knife but 440 or whatever pops up will be cool with me... I just like KOA little D2 blades and hope RC will bring out something in D2 or 440 as well,It is needed in my Tackle box :D

I believe most or all of the RAT fixed blade line, including the Izula, will eventually be offered in 440C stainless. The Izula folder is the only D2 blade I'm aware they're planning at this time.

I can see stainless being great for close-to-the-body wearing as in wearing the Izula for a neck knife, and in salt water environments.

Close to the body wear would be nice but for the most part it won't make a huge difference around saltwater. I used to live in fl. and did a decent amount of inlet, kayak, beach and offshore fishing and stainless didn't seem to matter to much. That's just my own experience. The H1 knives came out just when I moved and they look like the only thing that would hold up. Just my .02

I'm fine with the carbon steels in these knives.

Yes, there will be stainless ESEE blades, no mention of what models will be made but they are coming.

From what I've heard in the spyderco forums H1 because of its work hardening property, and the difficulty in grinding the blades, has yet to be Full Flat Ground, on a production scale. H1 is a tough steel though, would be an interesting choice.

Personally I'm loving the 1095 and Rowen's spectacular heat treat.

Not that my opinion is the end all be all, but I'm really not fond of 440C. Maybe I've never had a knife properly heat treated in 440C because the ones I have had in that steel were difficult to sharpen and didn't keep an edge for sh#t.
