I have been looking at two kukris makers to get one from and wondered how they compared to each other. Extrema Ratio kukri and fox tactical kukri. Which one is better or are they roughly on the same playing field. Also how good is their stainless is it brittle and will it stand up to chopping

What stainless steels are they made from ? I have a stainless kukri made of 440B which is appropriate for a chopper and hasn't chipped !

N690Co should work well but 440C would have to be tempered back to maybe 55 HRc.

What about a Cold Steel Gurkha Kurki? they have a carbon steel version and a San Mai VG-1 version.

So, what's your flavour Big Mike... Khukuri House, or Himalayan Imports?

Give me good steel, good heat treatment, and good edge geometry.

That's all I need in these Big Recurves.

I have never handled either the Extrema Ratio kukri or the Fox Tactical kukri, it would be interesting to hear from anyone that has really used them in the field. You rarely see reviews or hear anything about these two models.

As "Freedom" stated, Cold Steel also offers a stainless (VG-1) kukri and that one has lots of documented field use and reviews. Aside from the usual cast of characters that hate all things Cold Steel, everything I've heard is positive. I have the SK5 version; lots and lots and lots of real hard field use, no rust and no issues and a rock solid edge that rarely needs to be touched.

I really don't like looks of the cold steel model. I do have real kukris 2 from HI and 2 from KH. I was just interested in a stainless model with synthetic handles. I really like the looks of the
fox and ER. I want one of them but wanted to know if they were worth it.
