Stainless polish?

I just recieved a new Al Mar SERE. Beautiful knife and I love it already. It's by far the sharpest knive I have ever received from a production knife maker. This isn't a review so I'll stop there.

Anyway, there are some dull spots on the blade (not very bad) that I would like to get rid of of at all possible. The dealer will probably think I'm pretty anal if I try and exchange it. Is there a simple technique or product for polishing a stainless blade? I obviously don't want to scratch it. Anyone have any success at this without having to use a buffing wheel? How about silverware polish or jewelers' rouge? Anyone ever try either of these?

Thanks for any info.

I use MAAS polish on a Q-tip (along with a little elbow grease) to buff out little marks and scratches if they're not too deep. It might work on dull finish spots.

The only problem is, sometimes I end up with a noticeably shinier spot where I used the polish! Gotta be careful...

Maas is good , Flitz is good too , same concept. Use a q-tip like Torz suggested so you lessen the chance of cuttin your finger :D polish it off carefully , try it a few times using same process , it will shine like a.... like a..... like something shiny :D

Another vote for Flitz, amazing stuff really. I use cotton pads to apply it to and polish the sides of a blade.
