So I just got a brand spankin new delica 4 ss. I bought it from a private seller but stll brand new in box it even had the protective plastic on it. Anyway right out of the box it had a nice big horizontal scratch on the blade. I didn't even have to pay extra for it;) oh well I bought it to use. But anyway it has a tiny bit of side to side play but no big deal at all but my main concern is it is a little stiff to close then when it's fully closed the blade actually rattles side to side in the handle. Is it a problem or am I just too sensitive? I don't want to send it to spyderco. Ain't nobody got time for that.

None of those three issues sound normal for a NIB SS Delica. Regardless of the protective plastic, having all three of them in one knife raises questions as to what the former owner may have done with it. I'd suggest returning it to whoever you purchased it from.

Yes I am a dumb dumb. I was skeptical from the beginning. I get most knives from the same place but usually from the same respectable dealers. I only saved 5 bucks too.

When i had bought mine, i ended up doing a few things to it. I took a can of brake clean, sprayed the whole knife down and worked the blade/lock to get the grit and oil out. Then i blew it out with compressed air. After i was done with that i put a drop of oil on either side of the pivot area with the blade closed and worked it back and forth. Some got into the lockback area as well. New knife after that!
