Hello there,
I am wondering if folks use high temperature molten salts like Sta-hard 45 to heat treat stainless steel with conventional externally heated furnace like Evenheat vertical or comparable, and not ceramic lined, over the top or submerged electrodes furnaces used commercially to heat high speed steels.
I have been heat-treating my carbon steels in Sta-Hard 17 salts for some time now, but the highest temperature I ever tried was 1750F for A-2. Sta-hard 17 has 1900F upper work limit, so to go above it, I would need to use Sta-hard 45 or Hubbard Hall Neutral Salt HH. Wonder if anybody has had experience using these salts.
Thanks,
Marko
