little help here....

I have been getting different measures for the becker screws, some say 10-32 5/8 others 10-24 5/8 and now i see 10-24 3/4 on some other post , I have a becker bk2 with micarta scales....which one will fit because regretfully on my town it has been imposible to get those screws so I will have to order them online and I do not want to miss the right measure. plus here we use metric system so using a reference is almost out of the question

thanks

Dude, no offense, but no need to post the same question so much.

10-24 will work provided you replace the nuts and the screws. The ones that come with are a different thread pattern, i.e. fine or super fine instead of course (not sure on the exact terminology there, but you get the point). For length I say it depends on the nuts you are using. For a regular thin nut you could use 5/8" length, or you could go with 3/4" length, but you might have to sand the ends down a smidge. I went with 10-24 3/4" with nylon locking nuts, and for the set closest to the blade I had to sand off a little on the nut and the screw.

Where are you located?

I just went through searching for those last Friday. The BK2 comes with 10-32 5/8". I replaced my handles (with custom made ones) and got some 10-32 3/4" and had to file the ends off. I cannot for the life of me find any local store that carries black 10-32 screws though, let alone the nuts. SS are no problem.

10-24 will work fine, you'll just need matching nuts.

In your case I would probably get the 10-32 3/4" and file them down if they're too long. A minute with a Dremel cutoff tool is nothing.

Just bought some yesterday(2/14/11) the stock ones are 10/32" x 5/8". I did order a set of Micarta's from Tomar's and decided that a Phillips head SS 10/32" x 3/4" with a little blue loctite will work the best for me. I the head of he screws a little to wide when the new handles come in I will just mount them in a drill that is secured to the table and run file on it. If you've never done this before be careful the file can kick back and hurt you badly. If anyone is interested I can post some pic's and info in a new thread.

sorry did not know the question was already posted???

anyhow thanks for the advice, if the original bolts are 10-32 5/8 and they fit just right on my micarta scales I think I will go with that same measure.

I al in south america ( ecuador) hence the problem in getting the right measures.

thanks again
