I'm looking for something to polish/clean my dirty blades.

I'm seeing two kinds of polishes, metal and stainless steel. Which would you suggest I go with? Would stainless steel polish still work on blades with tool steels like CPM-M4?

Just about any metal polish will do. The finest one I have come across is made by Stanley.

I use MAAS metal polish. It works well for stainless also, as long as it is not a brushed finish like appliances. I have used it on O1, D2, CPM 3V, 440C, etc. It also works quite well as a fine stropping compound if you have a scrap of leather, or old belt lying around.

I also use MAAS and result is good.

Autosol will work too, but it's more agressive & as result more abrasive (from the sound during stropping). You can use both, Autosol and MAAS on different media.

I use MASS also works real well on standard finshed blades and adds a protective layer on the blade. FLITZ is great they have a Gun and Knife care kit that is a must have and you can pick it up cheap too. I also use MASS for stropping with very good results. MASS is a very fine polishing compound and its made in the US thats a +1 in my book.
