Anyone know how to blacken stainless steel? I have read several articles on this but I am unfamiliar with the exact process of black oxide process. I have the skills and necessary equipment but just need some more info. Thanks

Sand blast it and apply a bake on home coating, like the one from Brownells. I'd think doing a black oxide on stainless yourself will be challenging. Some companies offer the service for stainless if you want it done.

These folks make a kit for blackening stainless. I've not used it, so I cannot comment on how well it works.

The kit you want is not the "Black Oxide" kit at the top of the page.
You want the "Stainless Steel Blackener 370 ". It's toward the bottom of the page.

Thanks. I was looking at that too. Let me know if you do one and how it turns out. I already anodize my own aluminum parts now and was just getting ideas.
