I am thinking of removing my the handles on my milganzaa AD so I can properly strip/finish the area around the talon holes. I am going to attempt the method that Wicked describes in his tutorial:

Anyone else tried this? are they as strong as the original?

Also wondering about the specs on the 1/4" stainless tubing, is it all the same (wall thickness, malleability when flaring, etc...) ?

I do it all the time. The 416 Stainless tubing is plenty malleable. For holding handle slabs together it is plenty strong. Wicked's instructions are great. You are good to go.

Haven't been around for quiet a while.
Nice to see my instructions are still usefull :)
Just use a pice off wood like I did and practice 2 or 3 times before you start you project.
Go for it, it is really not very difficult.
I redid my NOE wenn I finally got some new scales.
