A stamp just sold for more than $2 million. Meet the ‘Inverted Jenny.’

Anyone who thinks knife collectors spend too much on their hobby should look at what an inverted Jenny airplane stamp just sold for, 2 million. It was bought by a fellow who collected stamps (read knives) as a kid and then gave it up for many years. After becoming more affluent, he began the hobby anew and started collecting rare stamps such as this. Interestingly, the stamp needs to be kept out of sight in a box protecting it from light to maintain its fresh look most of the time. Reminds me of our safe queens we bring out to fondle and fidget every once in a while. Collecting is fun and people spend a lot of money doing it.

Looks like it hasn't been cancelled, so it's still somewhat useful - though you'll need to add a few more to send a letter.

It's more like spiritual and commemorative value than material value. And the person who kept it must have been very careful and respectful of these stamps. It is like a testament to past history.

I know there some foreign stamps with a pic of a knife in it somewhere. Like Nepal or an Arab scimitar or marmaluke sword, maybe even a jambiya. Hopefully someone has a stamp or two….with a real knife next to it too, not necessarily the same as on the stamp.
