Just received my September 2021 "Blade" magazine and flipping thru it see what article looked interesting. On page 56 is an article "Last Little Mester of Sheffield" about Stan Shaw. It is written by Grace Horne, who is a knife maker (also scissors) in Sheffield and who had inter actions with Stan. Nice article. John

Thanks for the heads-up John, unfortunately I can't get hold of Blade here anymore, but I'll see if I can read the article online

There's something about this photo that I just love- a well aged, yet still very dapper man who's capable of making amazing things.
I didn't know about Stan until now, and I lament that I didn't know about him sooner.

I'm blown away. How cool is this?!
Well, it's my photo of Stan too! :D There's more pics in the first thread I linked to

I asked Stan to make me a Sheepsfoot in carbon, and then a Lambsfoot. I was surprised when he rang me a week or two later to say he'd made my Lambsfoot, but he'd made it in stainless. He told me, "I thought you could keep that one for best!" :D I miss him :(

I feel like a broken record, but that's so cool.
Seems like I wonderful fellow; the kind I'd like to have met.
Those knives are absolutely priceless, now! I enjoy the photos, and when I get a free moment I'm going to go and enjoy more of those threads. (I'm at work now)

Thank you, I treasure the times I spent with Stan, and consider myself very lucky to have known him :)

I didn’t know anything about Stan until his passing, but Jack Black Jack Black told me that Stan insisted on letting his knives snap shut. Until then I had been babying mine closed. Now I always let them snap shut. Really makes me enjoy them more. I thank Stan for that, and of course Jack for enlightening me.
