I just read this thread over in the General Knife Discussion forum and according to KnifeRights.org, it seems that the US Federal Government is making a play on our rights that may basically affect every law-abiding U.S. citizen who carries, uses, or owns knives. The current play is on redefining the definitions involving one-handed opening folders, but if this is allowed to pass without a fight, how long do you think that it will be until ownership of our fixed blades also comes under fire???

If we ever want to legally own the Busse Folder when it is released, or keep, carry and use our folders & fixed blades for many years to come, then now is the time to stand up for our rights...

Please check out the thread here. It is a lot of material to wade through, so please read it carefully:

Mods: I hope that this here is OK, since this will possibly affect all of us here & across the Forum...

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. If necessary, I vote to send you as the Bladeforums lobbyist representative

But if we send Amy-0 instead, Jaxx will follow for free. Two lobbyists for the price of one.

Yep. I'd follow her anywhere! ;):D ...Just don't forget to send those letters to U.S. Customs & Border Protection and also to your representatives in Washington D.C.

Edit: I wouldn't mind paying an optional extra dollar for a certain ceramic coffee cup if others were willing to send the money in as a donation to kniferights.org.

Guys, all jokes aside, please read the Stickies at the top of each forum. It is imperative that we write letters and get the word out on this one.

The fact that Customs:

  • is considering this convoluted 60+ page proposal.
  • only allowed 30-days for comments.
  • will not take email comments.
  • is proposing regulations that fly in the face of judicial rulings regarding assisted-open knives.

...suggests an ambush here. Please let the proper folks know how you feel.

Customs rejected an extension on the comment period.

Please get your letters to Customs before June 21.

Please also write your Senators and Representative ASAP. kniferights.org has easily modifiable model letters.

My letters have been sent to the CBP, and all of my state reps.

Did i mention this law about as ridiculous as they come. What a freakin waste of tax dollars.

This is what you get when people don't think before they vote.
